here's also some funny, and true, incidents from my career as a fathers custody lawyer:
Back when Harry Slusher was the Emperor of Family Law down at the RJC, I had a client who interrupted his temporary order hearing to announce, in open court, that he not only smoked pot every day, he also sold it so he could smoke for free.
Whereupon a silence fell upon the court.
Summoning all our emotional resources, somehow Harry and I both kept straight faces and the hearing went on as if there had been no interruption by the Client From Deep Space.
Afterwards, in the hallway, I asked my client why he said that.
CLIENT: "You told me to always tell the truth."
ME: "When you're asked!!! When you're asked!!!"
We ended up winning custody anyway.
I sure miss Harry!
